Demorats and Gummint

Cluck-cluck; Oink oink
What do New Orleans and Washington D.C. have in common?  They  are in thrall of Democrat politicians, with nary a hint of American influence.  Here's the stuff we have grown to expect from a D.C. gummint that openly admits to using hundreds of ticket cameras as revenue producers.
  1. In 2002 Erika Brown purchased a a dilapidated building from the city, in a tax sale, for about $82,000.
  2. She obtained financing to fix it up
  3. While she was at Expo looking  at kitchen counter tops the city demolished the building.
  4. Skip to 2006
  5. The District gummint sent Ms. Brown a bill for $98,000  to cover demolition charges of  $59,522 and $38,391 in interest as of last month.
On the other hand, I'll bet money that Erika Brown has voted for democrat council members, so the case can be made that her chickens have merely roosted. Or, pigs styed.    [We knock it down and then we come to collect $98,000]

You know what this reminds me of? The stories of people in China (and elsewhere, I suppose, but the specific example I recall happened in China) where family members 'disappear' for no apparent reason, and then a bill arrives in the family's mail for the cost of the bullet.

As a DC local myself, I'm surprised this woman hasn't made more of a fuss about it on local news shows and the like (as this is the first time I've seen this story) -- put some pressure on the government, at least, by letting people know what's happening. Or maybe she tried, and no-one answered her call.
