Fiber Optic Internet

Today's schedule
Verizon is due here (between 9 A.M. - 4 P.M.) to install the new FiOS (Fiber Optic) Internet Service (connection speeds of up to 30 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream.)  When it's done. I will actually be able to come to your house and eat food out of your refrigerator on-line!  Actually, I am somewhat worried, because they were vague about the connectivity of Mother Superior's Pentium 5  machine that's currently networked upstairs.  If she loses her computer, I will have to give her mine, or buy her a new one, which is not an option right now.  Past experience tells me that ... you know,  Murphy's Law. Eek. Anyway, I will be off line, of a sudden, when they show up.

We had an issue with them a few weeks ago. At a remote site a circuit breaker blew, Verizon came out, looked at the OC3 ,left a note saying it's a power supply and scurried off in his helicopter.

so it crashes, they come back out can't figure out what the last guy did, so end up taking down a DS12 along with our OC3.

About a day later they figure out it was a circuit breaker.

I guess that crowd of support people that follow you around with Verizon, were all on vacation that day.

Got to love those unions. First destroy automotive, now telecommunications.

I hate "up to" in ads. Why not just say up to 30 terrabytes per picosecond. "Pennies a day" also chaps my ass.
