Lord, will it never end. Kiss California goodbye. Let them pile the debt on. The voters are getting just WTF they voted for. I'll bet you a dollar that the media there loved it. Yet if he had taken a supply side route, he would have been villified as a baby starver. Let them choke on it for another 10 years and maybe they'll see their folly. They've got a huge problem with illegal aliens and they're just whistling past the graveyard.
I just don't understand what it's going to take for people to realize what a bloodsucking thing the government is. Here in Colorado, we had TABOR and last November, the voters suspended(yeah right) it for 5 years. Even our Republican gov was behind it?????
I sure liked that idea of a bunch of people moving to a state to change the course of this insanity by voting this crap away. I think if I saw it happening, I'd go. Why not? - 1/6/06, 7:59 AM

Where to even begin? How 'bout the ol' MFCS from previous post?! This stuff breaks my heart. The entire speech was pussyfied!
The people did not say "...Cut the warfare, cool the rhetoric, find common ground and fix the problems together." It's the same thing I spent a lifetime trying to teach our children: time and place, damnit.
An off season election, and lazy responses for the sleazy, intelligence-insulting-democrapic-unionized-commericals-spewed-in- our-faces is what doomed it. The propositions Ahnold put before us were awesome. He needs to resubmit them on a regular election ballot (just re-word a bit for that shiny new touch).
Next, and this is way serious, after being a 4th generation native, we are looking to relocate to a state income tax free location. Currently considering TX or FL. Please! Anyone out there w/info or suggestions (all. funny or serious) please help us out. This is not a knee jerk idea, it's been brewing for a couple of years.
Thank you very much, joyce - 1/6/06, 10:45 AM

At best, I have mixed feelings about his SOTS address.
Honestly?...we desperately need most if not all of those new infrastructure proposals that he discussed in his speech.
Though my colon tightens at the very mention of giving more money to public (i.e. illegal immigrant) schools. Get rid of all those fuckin' education bureaucrats and put the smack down on the teacher unions first...then we'll talk more money.
The only thing I was waiting to hear was that none of this would raise my taxes...which he thankfully said. Not that I believe it but at least he said it.
Look...California is and has always been a politically moderate state. In order to get anywhere with the historically liberal democratic legislature our governors have...at one time or another...been forced to break out the kneepads to get what they want.
Am I unhappy and extremely disappointed at the level of his groveling?...fuck yes. Am I surprised?...fuck no.
Once the 2006 gubernatorial election is over, I have no doubts that Schwarzenegger will quickly retrieve his slightly-shrunken balls from the legislative mason jar.
Personally, I think Schwarzenegger is crazy like a fox. He's gonna lull those back-biting, constant-bickering motherfuckers into a sense of complacency and when their fat piggy necks are finally exposed...with his eyes dripping blood...go in for the kill.
Mark my words....they'll never see it coming. - 1/6/06, 3:26 PM

I was gonna push the Andreas Fault Disgronificator "Button, and then realized we have been foolish enough to allow California to supply what? 80% of the nation's food supply? Grrrr.

joyce,
I have friends in both states and they love where they live. Florida, of course, is a bullseye for 3 months a year and it appears we're in an increased hurricane frequency cycle. I prefer the Gulf Coast in both states. The Gulf is beautiful. Florida sure gets hot in the summer. Both states have booming economies. Real estate seems more reasonable in Texas. My friends live near Galveston and got a nice home for $250K. I have another friend that lives in Sugarland(near Houston) and same kind of deal.
I was seriously going to move to Florida several years ago and spent a week checking out the coast north of Tampa. Clearwater, St. Petes, it beautiful, but hot and expensive. - 1/6/06, 11:38 PM
