Humming bird on a finger

Mother Superior will die from envy

We've been watching what I'm sure are several generations of hummingbirds at our window feeder for years, but even though they are confident enough to land on the feeder, they fly away at the least movement from us.

That pic is amazing and I'm jealous.

Be really jealous I have had it happen twice in my 53 years.

I'd love to know how did you do it Sock, unless of course you're actually a red petunia, in which case I know.

Seriously, was that serendipity or did you try to entice them?

Great picture. I thought I was cool when I posted a picture of a Dragonfly landing on my finger.

My photo was done with my cellphone and lacks the detail yours has. You must have had your camera ready.

Retired Geeare, that's just a pic I found, not mine. Should have made that clearer, sorry.

The first time I was in my cabin in the loft. A hummer flew in the door and got himself stuck inside upstairs. When I offered my finger as a perch to the poor thing who was trying to fly thru a closed window landed. It sat there calmly as I went down a ladder and outside. It didn't fly off the second we were outside he had to check me out. After about a minute it flew away.

The second time was a similar situation in my old house. One came in through the open front door. It was trying to get out a closed window in the kitchen. A calmly offered finger was accepted and a short walk to the front porch later it flew away quickly.
