If speeders can't speed, they can't be ticketed for speeding

I foresee the day when a Clintonia State Trooper pulls you over and plugs a handheld device into a port on the exterior on your car. Bingo...max speed over last 5 miles of the highway, registration and license update, status of exhaust emissions. Fines deducted out of yer combined EZ Pass, Income, Tobacco and Liquor tax contribution account.

I thought that last comment was funny for about 5 seconds, then it got scary.
The handheld device connection will not be hardwired, and it will include the date/time of your last adult beverage purchase and your firearm ownership status.
Now I'm frightening myself. - 1/26/06, 4:44 PM

we won't let it happen, but your grandkids will grow up thinking it's just swell. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, every new car has a computer that stores your driving history now ... for warranty and repair purposes. My wife has one of those E-Z Toll payers in her car .. that records her whereabouts everytime she passes througha toll zone.

That's going to make passing a tractor on a country road very interesting.

Oh and wait until phase 2
Inclement weather modifies the limits down, ditto school zones. Good god. Has anybody actually paid attention to the the posted limits on side streets and such?! This will cause an increase in asccidents as people get bored to death and drive off the road while distracted.
Phase 3
Police have a device which will override the signal and force your car to a stop. - 1/27/06, 11:34 AM

With the proliferation of wireless technology, the cops wont even need to pull you over. Heck, there wont even be a need for traffic cops. A ticket will be sent directly to your blackberry as you pass by a robocop-on-a-pole.
