Last evening I was
summoned by Mother Superior to view a TIVO'd Oprah show.
Yesterday was the first of two entire broadcasts Winfrey is devoting to
terrorism. She prefaced the show by saying, "It's so hard
to know what to believe about this war on terror since there are so
different opinions." I stayed long enough to hear three of her
guests, and got the impression Oprah was not hearing what she expected
to hear. The first guest, a CNN expert on terrorism, nearly
made her pee when he asserted that there is a 100% certainty that
bin-Laden will strike us again, and soon. Other guests also
agreed that this is a real war on terror, and that , while we have
severely disrupted al-Qaeda's resources, they look at this war as a
hundred year endeavor to destroy us. Yes, one guy did a "we need to start paying attention to the needs of the rest of the world (which surprisingly resonated with MS), but he was led into it by Oprah. While the phrase "treasonous democrats in congress" was not uttered, it was made manifestly clear to
Oprah's legions that what they've been hearing from the likes of
Kennedy, Kerry, and Gore is nonsense. I suspect to see a
reflection of this new reality to start showing up in the polls.
BTW, today is part two, so it would not surprise me if Oprah had as
guests some of the very scoundrels I just mentioned, so stay tuned.
