When even an asshole like John Kerry says Iran is a problem ...
Fighters deploy
Coinciding with increased tensions with Iran over the resumption of illicit uranium enrichment, the U.S. Air Force has dispatched additional warplanes to the region in a not-so-subtle sign, military sources say.
An entire wing of F-16s, the Air National Guard's 122nd Fighter Wing based in Fort Wayne, Ind., left for a base in southwest Asia on Tuesday. A wing is usually about 72 aircraft and several hundred support personnel.
F-16s and support personnel from the 4th Fighter Squadron of the 388th Fighter Wing based at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, also deployed recently to Iraq. The squadron has 12 F-16s.
Both units' F-16s could be used in any military operation to take out Iranian nuclear facilities.
A spokesman for the U.S. Central Command Air Forces, which runs air operations in the region, said the F-16 deployment of about 80 jets is part of a rotation and is not related to Iran's uranium reprocessing. - Inside the Ring

It'd be interesting to be able to read about the current problem with Iran in a history book. Kind of like reading about WWll and seeing how stupid the west was in the beginning, how appeasement didn't work, and really how close we came to losing everything. And since we'd be reading about it in a hostory book, we'd have made the right decision anout Iran today. Unless it was one of those sci-fi history books like "Planet of the Apes"

Anyway, Iran now is like Germany in say, oh, 1934. Only Iran is about to have nukes. A nut in power that everyone knows is a nut. Saying exactly what he intends to do and today people are acting the same way they did with Hitler and ignoring what this nut is saying.

Why does that keep happening? You know my old fall back. If the MSM were laying out the dangers of this nut, there certainly would be a more widespread fear of Iran. I guess I'm fatalistic. It's going to take something really bad to happen, a European capital taken out or maybe even the first nuclear exchange. That'd be a new one.

Sadly not even I can lay our problem at the feet of the MSM on this one. They have a hand but our whole culture is too fat and happy. We have come to think that there just can't be such evil. We need to be reminded every couple of generations.

VDH has a good piece at NRO about our options.

Nuke'em from orbit. It's the only way to be sure!

Rodge, sometimes you worry me. It doesn't matter what Kerry says NOW. When, in five years time, he's asked about what he said, he'll either say he never said it, or that he never meant it, or that he only said it because the CIA lied to him.
