It is said to see the Tomcat go. I remember exactly where I was when I saw my first Tomcat make a full AB altitude climb. . . 14 June 1972 at the Naval Air Training Center in Millington, TN.

Last of the great cat series.
BTW the F117-A Nighthawk will be retired on '08.

Yeah, the ''Cats'' were killed when Pat Schroeder demanded a ''Kitty Cat," and a''Pussy Cat'' model.

It makes me feel old. They were new when I first started flying. Now I'm retired and they are retiring too.

Know what ya mean MCPO Airdale and Tim. More bad news: the P-3 Orion is going away in the 2010-2012 timeframe. I flew 'em from 148888 to 163000. (Pre-production prototype to P-3C Update III.)

I understand the skipper of the last Tomcat outfit to deploy was a JayGee that I used to ride around with in the back of a Whale.

I still have the Tomcat patch Dad gave me. I always loved that cocky cat and still do. Always will.

My father was a Grummanite.

Until '77, he helped build 'em.
