(FAIR) v. Rumsfeld

Whack dem wackos, Whack dem wackos, Wa-aa-y whack''
The group of  leftist law schools and professors who, under the nom de poop  ''Forum for Academic and Institutional Rights,"  sued to keep our military from recruiting on campuses, were slapped down yesterday.  In the vanguard was Yale University, which (I think this is right) as the nation's only university with a 100% gay student body and faculty, still seethes over the Clinton era's "Don't ask, Don't tell" standard.

Yesterday's unanimous (Alito not participating) decision by the Supremes said ''Nuh-uh.''  The Court did not just depend on the Solomon Amendment - that denies federal funding to schools that discriminate against the military. Oh no.  It held that Congress, under its Constitutional authority to "provide for the common Defence," "to raise and support Armies" and "to provide and maintain a Navy," could mandate that colleges and universities permit military recruiters on campus, whether they accept federal money or not.''

Today's WSJ editorial [Army 8, Yale 0]  urges Congress not to invoke that right.
''If those who run America's institutions of higher education really have principled objections to the military's presence, let them take a stand by declining taxpayer money. Then the rest of us can find out how much their principles are worth.''
That's cute, but perhaps the Journal forgets that Yale's hard core leftists already refused a 1991 $20 million grant, from alumnus Lee Bass, rather than teach courses on Western Civilization.  Yale's hatred for the nation's foundation easily trumps it's need for Gummint money.  Especially since they (and we) realize that the Gummint never follows through on enforcement where the left is concerned.

"were slapped down yesterday"

Bitch slapped is a better term. The Supremes basically said that any professor who supported this lawsuit does not know the constitution and should not be teaching law.

Well, that hasn't seemed to bother them so far.

Couldn't agree more, Roger. Humility, knowledge and common sense are in short supply on our college campuses.

Yale actually pushed to get the Taliban spokesperson to go to their school, and a loon from CBS is paying the little Radicals expenses?

and yet, some Conservatives want to stay home from elections? to give these idiots control of the Country? to send some foolish message of 'suicide' to the Republicans?

crazy...

the Court is already improved, and here is two more reasons for Conservatives to feel inspired:

Aren't you glad you're not a law student today? Your professors just scored a zero on the "Constitutional Law for Dummies" exam.

I'd say that 100% is damned near close, but David Gelernter screws up that percentage. A conservative Jewish computer science prof. at Yale. Woot.
