It's my sense that this current amnesty bill is the 4th or 5th such legislation that John McCain has sponsored, or co-sponsored since 1988. Everyone of them were supposed to be the "solution." His co-sponsor on this one? Ted Kennedy.

Agreed...I spent much of my youth on the border: Tucson, Nogales, Bisbee, Naco. That was fifty plus years ago and the problems with "illegales" was minimal and pretty much condoned.
Now we are paying the price for that laxity.
The last fifteen years has seen a horrific spike in border breaches.
We must swing that military sledge hammer. There are confirmed reports of Mexican "Federales" shooting at American INS agents while drug runners make their deliveries.
In my educated opinion, its way past time! -
