Spring birds

Simple Pleasures
Even though today is the first day of spring, the bird water froze last night.  Luckily I replenished it first thing, and was rewarded by this pleasantness.  Just over the tree line lies the Chesapeake Bay, but the water is a tad salty I guess, because we get tons and tons of creatures here when conditions are foul..  Almost every plant in our yard (planted by Mother Superior) is to attract her raison d'etre - Hummingbirds.  We have seen exactly two Orioles, and no Bluebirds, but are trying.

What a precious sight. That must be a great feeling watch them flutter and fresh in the bath.

Unfortunately, for us, the dog has a strict "no fly zone" over the back yard. Not to mention, two cats. Juice

We get the ol' cedar waxwings in Fall when the Madrone berries are ripe. Piles and piles of 'em!

Looks like it's gonna be a good year for the Madrone berries as they're flowering like mad. ...if the BIRDS aren't all DEAD from the DAMNED DIRTY TURD WORLDERS GIVING 'EM THE FLU!!!

*ahem*
