Use a spare water heater for storage

Today's BFI
Here's today's BFI (Brilliant F***ing Idea) .  There is talk that some sorry-asses think Democrats will win the House this Fall, and these guys are Hell bent on destroying us, and all kinds of plague threaten, so we have to make a decision.  Is it worth living in a Nation where Nancy Pelosi is governing?  If the answer is yes, then be prepared.

Let's start with water.  Every home should have enough water to get by for a number of days, and here's where my BFI comes in.  Buy a replacement water tank now, even if you don't need one, and fill it with water.  If al-Qaeda strikes, or Democrats come to power, you'l be all set.  Not only that, when the day comes when your current water heater craps out, you'll be prepared to plug this one right in!. You're welcome.

I did a review of whole house on-demand heaters. They seem to be ready for prime time.

I have my secondary water tank already plumbed in line with the primary tank. The water is kept fresh by constant filling and if my primary quits for some reason I can fire up the secondary until repairs are made.

You nailed it Claire. I have ten acres in rural Idaho, excellent clean well water with no chlorine and I raise and grow my own food. Except for pigs. I let another rancher at the other end of the valley take care of the pigs and I trade with him.

Sounds like heaven, Don.

At the end of 1999, wasn't sure about how far to buy into the y2k problem. I had already done some work on our systems, and it was no joke.
So, what to do. Bought a bunch of canned stuff, and a solar-powered radio. Left off on any water tho, coz I knew I had a huge tank in the basement, full of very drinkable water.

For a lot less, I can get you a 250 GL military surplus fuel bladder new in the box. We use these to store water all the time. They're designed to be filled, attached to a yoke, and pulled behind a vehicle. On demand hot water is the way to go.
