Re Katie Couric going to CBS - I remember when that Titanic guy ... Leonardo-whatshisname - was tapped to interview Bill Clinton about Earth Day a while back.  Remember?  Sam Donaldson went ballistic ... and was all ''how can ABC allow an actor to do the job of a trained journalist?''  Puh-leeeze.   In her new role as the successor to Dan the Newsman, Couric will be what is called on the Continent, a ''news reader.'' An actress.  She's there for no other reason than to look cute and perky, which she does pretty well, even at 50, but there are in the neighborhood of 20,000,000 women in America who could do the same thing.  Maybe she'll do on on-air vaginal exam to draw viewers.  But even there. like listening to her slant of the news, I'd know what to expect ... same old-same-old.
