Despicable Behavior

Let me tell you something. I live in a community loaded with NSA people. One of our good dinner friends from the past was a NSA guy, and standard table banter - 25 years ago -  was something like this.

Boopy ''You'll never guess who called me last week.''
Buddy
''Neil can. He probably listened to it!''
Group
''Bwahaaaaaaaaaaa !''

So,  we are to believe that ''Lawmakers'' in 2006 are scandalized by NSA activity that was common knowledge a quarter century ago?  My understanding, then, was that NSA had the capability of filtering every phone call in the world for certain key words and phrases.  I was comforted by that.  I have no idea if we actually had that capability, Neil was utterly tight lipped about details, but you get the point.  And Democrats must be familiar with ECHELON, which came to light during Clinton.

A favorite moment during  the Senate's Iran-Contra hearings was when Ollie North told his inquisitors that the reason he failed to inform the the Senate Intel committee about certain things, was the Administration knew some Senators would leak sensitive information for political advantage (Google  "Leaky Leahy").  Nothing has changed.

Since the light bulb bubble appeared over Democrat heads -  the one that said ''Holy crap, if we win this war, Bush will be reelected'' - their behavior has been despicable, if not treasonous. And now this farce?  A horse whipping would not begin to suffice for this lot.

Frankly, I could give a rats if Bush is listening to my phone calls; he's trying to save my ass. No one seems concerned that the Google folks, big time leftists, who are probably reading your email if you use their email service 'gmail'. Liberals reading my mail is something else.

Yeah...I never understood that. I'm 16, so since I suppose my conversations are generalized to include Pizza, girls and...uh...what else do 'damn kids my age' do now? Listen to..rap music...Anyway...How does this effect me? For all I care, some NSA guy is listening to me everytime I pick up the phone...I'm not talking about killing anyone, bombing anyone...But that's pretending that I'm as ignorant as those on the left.

The reality is, if I was talking to Osama Bin Laden via my house phone...I'd be worried. The fact that liberals are screaming about this, make me wonder...

By the way, unrelated subject...or maybe not. I know you lived during it, so you may not have any reason for such things, but would you happen to know of any books specifically on the Iran Contra deal? I've read plenty here and there, but I trust crap like Wiki-pedia as much as I trust the NY Times.

Oh also...Because I don't wanna spam you with a bunch of posts...and I don't know if your email is up and running...

I thought that was pretty funny...even if it is a liberal making us laugh...I couldn't find it anywhere else on the net...so be forewarned...it's a site that also has...tasteless ads and other videos...but this one specifically is clean and fun for the whole family...

I can't recommend a book on the subject ... Oddly enough however, I was in in a North Carolina motel room one Saturday, having a Toddy with a group that included Ollie North's nominal boss when my phone rang. It was the White House. They had tracked him down, and were calling about what would later be called ''Iran Contra.'' We could tell from his end of the conversation that it was serious. When he hung up, as I recall, he said ''J-C-. They're trying to impeach Reagan.'' Which of course is what Iran-Contra was about.

North Carolina Motels!

last night, stumbled upon Dick Durbin waving a USA Today on C-Span...

this is a very dim bulb for certain...

moments later i see Leahy waving the same USA Today on a clip played on Cable news...

wondering if USA Today is more accurate than the CIA?

thinking, USA Today loses several thousands of potential subscribers, readers, etc., the next day...

In the late 70s, I worked for a company that made parts for the NSA phone listening equipment. The Carter administration is the one that ramped up NSA's ability to listen in on phone calls to other countries.

It is probably the only smart thing he did in his entire life.
