I was actually disappointed when the waitress said that Patches had been drinking after all. The idea that this happened when he was sober was much more amusing.
I mean, he's sober one night a month, and it's that night that a Jersey barrier loses it and lunges at his radiator? I could picture him, driving around sober, knuckles white on the steering wheel, looking around with big eyes. "I never noticed all this stuff before! Geez, it's scary! Other cars! WHAT WAS THAT?! Oh man, it doesn't hurt like this when I'm hammered." -
