Defanging Iran

It needs doing, but how?

My own feeling is there is no chance for peace in the Middle East (I ought to quit right here) while Iran's Mullah-cracy stands. Iran has ties to virtually every act of terrorism the world has known for a quarter century, and the current Israel-Hezbollah crisis, I believe, is engineered by the mullahas as well.  The best great hope today is for Israel to do the job.  Powerline quotes ''Steven den Beste, formerly of USS Clueless, now proprietor of a very different site '' on the matter.

"Horowitz suggests that Israel's best option is to strike Iran now. I agree. With Iran well on its way to becoming a nuclear power, Israel will never be stronger in relation to Iran than it is today. And, quite apart from the perfectly valid concept of a preemptive strike, Iran's central role in the current war justifies direct retaliation."

It's not that simple ... .

Does Israel want to preemptively use a nuclear-tipped missile against Iran at this time?

Dunno but I sure do. I think the only way to defeat these MF'ers is to use overwhelming force. For over 40 years we've let them get away with more and more. They know we're paper tigers (look at our wimpy response to Iran and NK). Its time to prove that we're not. Anything less will just lead to more and more attacks on their part.

BTW does any sane person not believe that Iran will use nukes when they have them? Are we supposed to wait and then respond?

"The fact that something is desirable doesn't mean it is feasible." Besides, to expect Israel to the job for, what is essentially, the entire world's protection, is just plain passing the buck. Too many pussy governments in today's world. Juice

The cited article lists the problems that make an Israeli intervention unlikely. Unfortunately the world is behaving much like our democrats, that is they seem to be willing to face annihilation as long as George Bush's America gets comeuppance.
