I recently switched to using Sharp-Stick-in-the-Eye Beta.

I tested IE7 Beta-Beta-Beta in Feb, and was underwhelmed. I will try this though. My primary complaint about Firefox is it bleeds memory like crazy. What I notice when I do go to IE6 now is a speed increase, but the vibrancy of color is stunning. I don't know why that is?

I tried IE7 too, for maybe 3 whole minutes.

The new version, like Spoons did? How did your experience differ?

Meh...

I dislike this trend of EVERY browser to go to tabbed browsing. When IE7 becomes so standard you'll have to upgrade to see websites clearly, I fear there will be nothing I can do to avoid it...

(The lack of tabbed browsing is the ONLY reason I still use Internet Explorer regularly. I think I'll take my business elsewhere (Firefox, likely) once IE7 is shoved down my throat.

I'm fairly certain that I've asked this before, but if you despise tabbed browsing, then why not simply refrain from opening a new tab? Mozilla, by default, will not even display a tab bar until one opens a tab. Have you an overwhelming compulsion to hit Ctrl-T or what? I don't get it...

djmb,
I don't think I've ever seen you post that here, before, or anywhere else I frequent.

As far as 'compulsion to hit Ctrl-T' goes, my previous experience with tabbed browsing is that it forces you to use tabs rather then an 'open a new window' command. Considering I often find myself going down a list of links and opening a number of them in new windows, and LIKE having them all in seperate browsers, this becomes a problem.

If most tabbed browsers don't force you to use a tab instead of opening a new window, then I guess perhaps this isn't really a problem. It's still something I would have to get used to, however.

Mozilla (and, I would presume, Firefox) allows the opening of new windows with Ctrl-N, File->New Navigator Window, or "Open Link in New Window" from the context menu after right-clicking of a link. 'Course, I rarely use this option unless I'm opening a link from a small, menu-less window that precludes a tab bar.

Such abilities should've been present in prior versions of Gecko browsers (Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape 6+) despite the hyping of tabbed-browsing. Trust me--you're not compelled to use the tabbed features of these browsers. I dunno about Opera or IE7 as I've never used them.

As you don't appear to be trolling, you have my apologies for sounding like an ass with my previous post. But I know I've, before now, read of a refusal to use Firefox due to its inclusion of tabbed browsing. After having seen it again, all I could think was, "does not compute." I hope I've been at least a smidgeon helpful.
