Stoning or lapidation is a form of capital punishment in which the criminal is put to death by having stones thrown at them. The size of the stones is chosen by the perpetrators of the stoning as to make the victim's death prolonged and never instantaneous. The throwers of the rocks are often members of the victims family, or the larger community, which stands in contrast to the concept of a judicial executioner. Among the crimes considered appropriate for the punishment of stoning are included prostitution, adultery, and murder.  This Iranian woman was stoned for having sexual relations with a friend's son.  Just think, most of the world seems content to let these throwbacks have the BOMB? Sheesh.
