You'd a thought Lieberman-Lamont was Republican-Democrat. The media' ''discourage the republican base'' machine  [yawn] was predictably chugging along. ''Lieberman losing ground'' ''Lamont surging'' ''Lamont closes gap'' ''Lamont 90 points ahead'' ''Gap closing'' ''Lamont wins by 4%'' Here's the final headline in this saga. Lieberman reelected as Independent. The biggest loser is the Democratic party, which  has reaffirmed its status as the uber liberal, "we won't fight'' people  made popular by George McGovern in 1972.  They are finished as a national threat.  Don't believe me?  The Crazy Greek's post election gloat includes this harbinger of the party's future: Winners: ''Maxine Waters. Damn that woman busted her butt for Lamont, and she did so with class and flair.'' Any party that boasts of having Maxine Waters on its side is toast.  Trust me, no congressional takeover for these guys.  Not because Lieberman, who really is liberal, will caucus with republicans - he wont; because the Democratic Party is once again perceived to be  controlled by loons.  No soup for you!
