Wouldn't the anti-gun nanny-staters 'bout make nasty in their diapers over the kid on the left? I just think he has a good imagination. Hell, I remember using sticks for guns. And Rodge, where are you getting the old photos? They're great.

Having three brothers, I usually played whatever games they did. We always made guns out of anything nearby. Oh, and some sticks would be spears or bayonets (one of which left me w/a shiner.:)) It's very sad that kids can be sent home from school these days for having imaginations of real life. What an effn kookoo world we live in. LOVE the "back in the day" photos, also. Juice

We also made home made bow and arrows and swords. I became very adept making the bow and arrow.I would season the would with charcoal fire same with the arrows. I started out bending the caps of Coke bottles over the tip when that did not pan out I heated and pounded out beer can metal and formed it into a tip that I notched into a tip.These damn things were dangerous wonder someone did not get hurt.

"Pet Milk" cans were perfect for horse sound effects.Since they only had small holes punched in them (for coffee creamer)you could stomp on them,crimping them around your shoe,and making the most wonderful loud clatter of hoofbeats.Bet the neighborhood loved the hell out of that.

In the 40's, my pals and I rode siick horses and were lucky to live near a broom factory so we always had plenty of fresh mounts.The broom makers rejects were our herd of steeds and came in a wide choice of colors.Cheapest transportation I ever had.
