CAIRO (Reuters) - Muslims deplored Friday remarks on Islam by Pope
Pope Benedict and many of them said the
Catholic leader should apologize in person to dispel the impression that he had
joined a campaign against their religion.
In a speech in Germany on Tuesday, the Pope appeared to endorse
a Christian view, contested by most Muslims, that the early Muslims spread their
religion by violence.

More imams on September 11
More of Norway's imams have expressed their disbelief
that the terrorist attacks of Sep. 11 2001 on the USA can have been
carried out by Muslims.
Imam Hafiz Mehboob-ur-Rehman of the Islamic Cultural
Center and vice-imam Mian Tayyib cannot see a Muslim role in the
September 11th attacks.
Imam casts doubt over existence of bin Laden
"I don't believe that Muslims have the resources or qualities needed to
carry out the attacks of September 11, 2001," said Imam Hafiz
Mehboob-ur-Rehman of the Islamic Cultural Center. Other Norwegian imams
share his view, which first came to attention in a web chat on
Aftenposten.no with imam Zulqarnain Sakandar on Monday.
