The dumbest? Are those statues of people readying to jump? Disgusting.
Yes. I'm with the Donald Trump plan to rebuild them even taller. Otherwise, we daily reinforce terrorist control by doing nothing. Guess the pointy heads are busy *feeling* what to do. Juice - 9/11/06, 11:13 AM

2 years, 6 months is what it took for them to do SOMETHING with the Alfred P. Murrah building in Okie City. To be honest, five years of nothing isn't exactly the message that I want to cram in the face of Osama Blisblbla and his band of merry dyno-jockeys.
No cultural center. Personally, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, Harry Belafarkface, and any of those poverty pushin' pimp bastards can cram it. There is no similarity in slaves 200 years ago, and what's happened here. Gay rights, civil rights, whatever in hell else they wanted to put in there, has nothing to do with it. MEMORIAL ONLY.
Build the towers again. Bigger, stronger, twice as imposing as before.
And you know what I'd like? I'd like it if they were connected somewhere near the top. Like an Arch. It doesn't need to be usable, but I want a big ass American flag hanging from every side of that sucker, a big sentimental F.U. to everyone who danced when they fell the first time.
Break ground tomorrow. No more waiting. Why do we need some great design? Is it gonna make us feel good to have the memories of what happened completely erased? When I look at where the towers stand, I want to see towers. I don't need some French-Canadian-Somoan person giving his input on this. We do fine on our own thanks. - 9/11/06, 11:36 AM

Personally I'd like to see the three tower design--you know the middle-finger salute kind.

Josh - I too am sick of all the egoism and posturing of the modern art/modern architecture/race pimps flocking to that disaster like vultures to a carcass, not because they care about what happened, but in order to gratify their over-inflated and worthless egos or to proclaim their political agendas.
I want to make you chairman of the Rebuild/Architectural Committee for the WTC, and I'll give you a Louisville Slugger to take with you to meetings.

Yeah, my personal idea back before the official plans were announced was to build two towers back that looked almost exactly the same, but were a few stories taller with improved safety features based on what we learned in the attack.
I would just mirror image the buildings footprint on the site, thereby reserving the areas where the original towers stood as a park/memorial space to the 9/11 victims. - 9/12/06, 7:17 AM

Josh Fahrni had it right - build them bigger, with a connecting arch to hang a flag from.
Make the outside of the buildings a gold color, to show that it's the WORLD trade center.
Use the roof to launch fireworks displays on 4th of July, and tell people it's anti-aircraft batteries. What the hell, put AA batteries up there, too. - 9/12/06, 9:00 AM
