I am constantly surprised by friends here in a red state, who say they voted for Bush, etc., but still will say that they believe the majority of muslims are peaceful, and that the ones here are good, loyal Americans?????

Mary, what I've come to believe is that people are so accustom to *Politically Correct Speech* it's almost like a big-brother might be listening. So they harbor their true thoughts and beliefs in their tiny pin heads and only speak aloud that which appears acceptable at the time.
