Of Redskins and Cruise

Mad about sports .. quite pissed actually
I didn't watch part two of ABC's 9-11 film because, 1) I wanted to watch the Redskins, and 2) I pretty much had my fill of politics for one day (don't blame me for politicizing that tragedy - I'm no democrat).  The broadcast team of Joe Theisman, Tony Kornheiser, and some other idiot left me yelling at the television screen anyway.

First, they spent all of a  Redskin scoring drive, maybe 10 minutes, interviewing actor Jamie Fox. I left the game to E-mail Fox Sports my opinion of their "game plan."  That flagrancy was almost immediately followed with camera shots, and vignettes, of game attendee Tom Cruise, who has evidently been signed by 'Skins owner Dan Snyder - for something ( one pundit wonders if "they worked out this deal in the locker room?"). Anyway, I fell asleep, and just now see that they lost the game to some team from Minnesota.  With the Terps playing at West Virginia Thursday night, and elections coming up, I hope I don't find myself  preaching from the University of Texas Tower.

Don't worry.  Not only is Rodger more stable than Howard Dean, he's far less influential.

Better get ready to climb those stairs. The Mountaineers are unstoppable. Hope the Terps have a good defensive secondary.

Condolences Rog, I had a similar reaction. I came to watch football, and was instead exposed to the intellect of Mr. Fox, and the masculinity of Mr. Bunny. I turned the channel until the Chargers came on, ahhhhh.

BTW, not a mention of Jim Tressel and the mighty Buckeyes?

Those bastards tricked me again! I was misled into voting the way I did.

Rodge - Ya missed the best part, the Amb. Barbara Bodine/FBI love scene drama. But wait, there's more of Barbara's collectibles here: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-bodine8sep08,0,7868172.story?coll=la-home-commentary

That's why I quit watching pro sports. Between placing too much emphasis on commentators and guests rather than the game, the prevalence of overpaid, illiterate near-thugs acting out on the field and off, and endless commercials, it just isn't worth it.

yep...

"maybe 10 minutes, interviewing actor Jamie Fox"

seems all orchestrated to boost Cruise's suffering image...

Fox is a buddy of Cruise, and the appearance of Tom and Girl in box, seemed to be constructed for public consumption.

No wonder that owner creates crap with that team. The focus is not football it seems.

But if anyone can turn it around. Mr. Gibbs has a chance.
