Soccer v Baseball

Today's morning shower observation
Our politics used to be like baseball.  The rules are rigid, and umpire error is subject to instant game analysis and league review.   Opposing fans will cheer  for their respective teams, then ride to work together the next morning amidst good natured banter.

Today it more closely resembles soccer, with rules that are easily subjectively applied, which leads  supporters to believe they were denied victory by cheating game officials, which is sometimes the case.  Moats separate fans from the field; wars have erupted over the game.  It can get ugly.  Like now.
