BOGUS NYT POLL

BOGUS POLLS
Bulldog Pundit
I continue to predict that Republicans will control the House, and the Senate, in 2007.  Reason?  The polls we've been swamped with are mostly bogus, tools used by disreputable media to drive the vote leftward (per usual).  Voter fraud  remains a concern, but then it always has been (which party has the missing Tennessee ''Smart Cards'' do you suppose?).  Bull Dog Pundit (an Ankle Biting Pundit) does some analysis on the latest New York Times/CBS  poll

OK, you all know the drill by now. The New York Times has again come out with a poll showing (again) that the Dems can’t lose come next Tuesday. And, again, the problem is that the poll seems to bear no resemblance to those people who are actually going to, you know, SHOW UP to vote.

My point here is not to complain about the poll methodology, etc., but rather to again the decry the use of these polls to drive “news” stories and do “analysis” about the midterm election. The reason - the “news” stories provide no context about the poll demographics, nor do the polls accurately reflect who is actually going to show up on Election Day.

Here’s why I say this…

In the NYT poll, 23% of respondents aren’t even eligible to vote.

And of those 77% that are registered, a full 37% didn’t vote in the last mid-term election, and an additional 13% don’t remember if they voted then.  Folks, that means that OVER HALF OF THE TOTAL RESPONDENTS DIDN’T VOTE/CAN’T REMEMBER VOTING IN 2002.

Plus, some 26% didn’t even bother to vote in the friggin 2004 Presidential election.

How in God’s name can the NYT seriously this poll to be reflective of anything?

Now let’s look at some of the specific demographic information that should give you pause.

There's more ....check it out

Whether the poll is legitimate or not isn't important. The main thing is to give the impression that the polls show a certain tendency. If the public has this impression, it will influence their actions at the polling booth. Democracy is based on this type of falseness because people vote emotionally.

Exactly right, but name the last election in your memory when the leading polls did not at some point portend a democrat victory that never materialized? The Baltimore Sun had Jimmy Carter beating Reagan the day before the 1980 election.

Your reasons are good, Roger. Here is some more reasons why Republicans will receive 98% of the vote.

1. MSM continually tells Democrats that they will win in a huge landslide. So most Democrats are thinking, "Why should I bother to vote?".

2. MSM has spread stories that Republicans have secret codes to all the voting machines so that no Democrat votes will be counted. So most Democrats are thinking, "Why should I bother to vote?".

3. MSM continually tells blacks that Democrat precinct workers will prevent black Democrats from voting for Democrats. It is their big lie of voter suppression. So most black Democrats are thinking, "Why should I bother to vote?".

Ohio me: I've a Dewine sign in my front yard. Already voted, absentee. Refulse always to take the nonstop opinion polls they call me up to take.
Was in Cleveland last weekend. With my bro Dennis. Kept seeing signs for "Dennis", humorous, until realized meant Kucinich. Not my bro, who'd be much better in the House, btw.
Ohio has had a ruff go lately, coz the Stupid party has been particularly stupid here. But don't write us off.

Ya know, Rodg, come to think of it:
I don't answer any poll. No Republican I know admits to doing so.
I work with a conglomeration of folk, many Dem. I hear them talk about talking to pollsters. Me, I can't see the point.
I'm guessing that the pollsters are leaving out about 5% of the population on this one.

The democrapper media believes that repeating the story that democrats have the election all locked up and has taken control will start a trend and make people want to vote for the winner. They call it momentum and they try so hard to keep it moving the crapper way. I found the press conference with Tony Snow after the John Kerry comment about the troops very telling.

It was Kerry that made the comment but in the news conference with Snow the so called journalist kept attacking President Bush over Kerry's comments. You would have thought it was Bush that called the military stupid and with no options other than joining the army. Anyone that watched that conference and does not understand the bias the news media has for liberal rat bastard democrats are unreachable.
