Impeached Judges

In our nation's 230 year history, how many public officials have been impeached (whether they were removed, or not)?

Senior District Judge John Fullam has skeptically questioned federal prosecutors and challenged them on the charges against three Delaware county officials, which include racketeering, wire fraud and mail fraud. The former New Castle County officials will be tried for criminal corruption and fraud for using county government for their personal and political benefit.

One of the public officials also accepted $2.7 million in loans from a developer with business pending before the county and subsequently destroyed evidence of that and other illegal activities over the years.

This week federal prosecutors filed a 23-page motion asking the judge to step aside because of his obvious bias. The government attorneys detailed a laundry list of words and actions by the senior judge in Philadelphia that demonstrate that bias.

This story is notable because it reminds us that bad judges are not the sole legacies of Democrat Presidents Carter and Clinton.

Judge Fullam, who was appointed to the bench by Lyndon Johnson in 1966, has even questioned whether the case merits a trial, often saying “assuming there is anything to be tried.” . Fullam received national publicity for his bias in another public corruption trial. In the 1908s the judge entered an order of acquittal notwithstanding a jury’s guilty verdicts, arising from a scandal called Abscam http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abscam that ultimately led to the conviction of various federal and state lawmakers. "Judge Dismissive Of Public Corruption"

Bad judges are like bad doctors.  Their colleagues know they're incompetent, but the brotherhood sticks together.  In all of our nation's history only 16 people have been impeached, including two presidents. The last two judges removed were Lyndon Johnson appointee Walter L Nixon, in 1989, and Carter appointee  Alcee Hastings, in 1988. Hastings escaped prison when an ''OJ jury'' ignored evidence and acquitted him, then elected him to Congress.  Hastings will likely be given chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee if Democrats take the House.  Aye Carumba.

A little OT here but I had to share a bumper sticker I just saw on a minivan at the grocery.

It read 'Democrats have moral values too!'

OK, seriously, doesn't that just crack you up? Can't you just picture some little spoiled liberal stamping her foot and saying that? HAHAHAHA!

Is this a quiz and if so, are you going to provide the correct answer?

Yeah, just like a liberal wanting to be spoon fed info, talking points and anything else that's free in life, but...I'm far to hungry, tired and lazy right now to look it up (I voted 16).

I did vote 16, because it's known how rare impeachment is.
