Poor Cosmo...I honestly feel sorry for him,but I guess if you're gonna be a stand-up comic ,in front of a lot of drunks,you gotta learn to roll with the punches and keep quiet...The reason for my sympathy is I know I'd react one hell of a lot worse than that to harrassment...What I also don't understand is,since the other patrons paid to see and hear the the star of the show,why didn't they,enmasse,tell these MOFOS to STFU...By the way,were those black gentlemen(?) unprejudiced and without bias?...I think not.

Would you really react worse? What could be worse than making a fool of yourself as 'Cosmo' did? I think jumping off the stage and getting into a brawl would NOT be worse than what idiot 'Cosmo' did. I think a non-racist flow of insults, intelligently conceived and delivered, would have been awesome. But 'Cosmo's descent into rabid fulmination was merely a discreditting of himself. He's so diminished by this rant that it really is a shame. -

Thank you anon...Observe the part where I said "standup comic....you gotta learn to roll with the punches"...That would of course include being quick with words and putting these bastards in their place...Unfortunately I'm NOT a stand up comic and the first thing that comes to mind is that I have a bad temper and DON'T take it well at all when someone tries to make an ass outta me.I know exactly how I think and that would be that somebody's going to the fucking hospital...Remember this now...I'm from a family of Catholics-Protestants-Jews-Asians-native Americans-and various Europeans and Anglo-Saxons welded onto our basic Irish/Scoth background....I don't like racial nor ethnic insults.I certainly am not going to say that I have never been guilty of same...Actually few people are guiltless in my estmation...But it not a practice these days.,,I'm very proud and think more than you know about ALL my relatives...The point is this.I hate unkindness and bias where ever it comes from...I also know how I would react to it and it wouldn't be... racial slurs.

See,hears what get's me Doc....Cosmo was dead wrong and he should apologize..No doubt about it...But..Where's the apology from the guys who were disrupting a (paid for) show for all the other patrons?...Where's their apology for fucking with a man's livlihood?...Where's their apology for trying (succeeding)in making an ass out of someone who's career will probably take a bad turn...Common courtesy was called for here...If they didn't like the entertainment,they shoulda got the hell up and left....These clowns owe every bit as much an apology as does Cosmo.

I don't know why, but it bugs me to have the guy (whatever he did or didn't do) referred to by the name of a character on a TV show that has been some years gone and in syndication. His name is not Cosmo Kramer, it's Michael Richards.

I spent five years writing for stand up comics and doing a few turns myself. Heckling goes on every night in every club in the U.S. Every comic knows how to deal with it. You either learn or you get out. One of my favorite comebacks was addressed to a couple walking out on a show: "Good night m'aam. Good luck, sir." Nobody left after that one. Jackie Leonard did his entire act around handling hecklers. Don Rickles? Jesus. Roseanne Barr is great at it. When somebody called her a fat dyke she responded: Listen, every body keeps saying, Roseanne Roseanne you're just not feminine. I just tell them to suck my dick." Richards is a small time semi-talent who was finally lucky after he turned 50. He's history, and deservedly so. His professionalism is zero.

Well I did not know I was in such esteemed company that had never lost there temper and ther point about Kramers name is an attempt to put down. I believe there are very few people that at one time or the other that has not uttered a racial slur. Is it right no it's not. But I will not be like Mark Ferman when asked if he had ever used the word Niggers or Nigger's before and lie. I have when a black person called me a cracker or honkt Mo Fo I have responded in kind. I have also regretted it as well. I do not believe this one evnt is the totality of this mans life. He was very good in his role as Kramer and most people see him as Kramer. I never knew his real name because I do not follow things like that very much. The bottom line is with have all mad mistakes and fell short of the glory and not represented our self or species very well.He has a price to pay and I am sure he is paying it now but should he be destroyed? I don't think so.

I find it hard to understand why these exchanges, in the context of a live comedy club, of all places, have been discussed (on the forum where the video resides, for example) and treated like it was said at a Cub Scout meeting or church social. I think the rules in live standup are a bit different. I think there's a certain open season on the comic, and the comic most certainly has every right to riposte. That's all I see happening in this case, although you are perfectly correct when you say that Richards is the one who's going to pay a price.
