NO! You are going to that camp! You will NOT sit in the pouch and play GAMEROO!
Awww thanks. Reminds me of mom ;-)
BTW I've been watching, live, the Aussies thrash the English at cricket thanks to DirecTV. Most enjoyable :-)
USA UAS USA!
Quick ... what channel?
All the cricket stuff is on channel 2024 - wtf? Must be a subscription deal, right?
117 & 119 (they alternate) if you really want to know (my sarcasm detector is at about 9 so I'm betting not). I got the first two nights for free for some reason then they wanted me to pay. The price wasn't out of line with US sport packages so I called them last night. It took them about 10 minutes and the nice girl gave me a $5 off/month for 6 months deal for waiting.
My only problem now is that my 10yr-old VCR gives a crap picture and because of the time different I only watch 4-5 hours. I'd like a basic/cheap DVR but they don't exist. Tivo & DirecTV have monthly fees (I remember when ya had to rent telephones as well). Panasonic makes what appears to be a great VCR/DVD/DVR combo unit but its not cheap ($450).
Rodger, 2024 is 24-hr cricket channel and is part of some international (Indian?) package. You need a special dish to get it. 117 & 119 are standard DirecTV PPV channels. Check your online guide and it'll say "upcoming" or some such. Coverage starts around 6:15-7:00pm EST.
BTW the I bought the Ashes (Aus vs Eng) series for $100, minus $30 over 6 months. That consists of 5 test matches of 5 days each. One days coverage is about 8.5 hours which amount to about $3/day coverage or 33c/hr.
As a cricket lover (esp. when the Aussies are beating England) whose gone without for 11 years I'm really enjoying it. Man I love this (USA) country!
The Ashes
Rivalry between the Aussies/English for over 120 years.
I became interested in cricket whilst reading Flashman's Lady. I've never seen a match, which I understand can last for days, and don't understand a bit of it.
Test matches, like The Ashes, last up to 5 days. However there are also one-day matches.
You might try tuning into 119 tonight. Perhaps you'll get a freebie like I did.
I tried watching it and went to sleep.
So you saw it Jack?
Most Americans find cricket boring--especially test matches where the game can last 5 days ;-) One-dayers might be somewhat more interesting (faster paced game).
I personally find baseball boring and football far too stop/start to maintain my interest. Each to his own...
BTW I bought a Panasonic DMR-ES15P DVD recorder yesterday to replace my VCR. It can record 8hrs on DVD :-) Works great.
Not that anyone cares but Australia thrashed England in the first test.
