Tom Tomorrow

Today's Rabid Dog
That's just to establish which planet Dan Perkins (a.k.a. "Tom Tomorrow") lives on.  Here's today's hilarity, in full. [Confirming the obvious …]

Anyone who’s spent any time reading right wing blogs already understood this to be true:

Lohse, a social work master’s student at Southern Connecticut State University, says he has proven what many progressives have probably suspected for years: a direct link between mental illness and support for President Bush.

Lohse says his study is no joke. The thesis draws on a survey of 69 psychiatric outpatients in three Connecticut locations during the 2004 presidential election. Lohse’s study, backed by SCSU Psychology professor Jaak Rakfeldt and statistician Misty Ginacola, found a correlation between the severity of a person’s psychosis and their preferences for president: The more psychotic the voter, the more likely they were to vote for Bush.

But before you go thinking all your conservative friends are psychotic, listen to Lohse’s explanation.

“Our study shows that psychotic patients prefer an authoritative leader,” Lohse says. “If your world is very mixed up, there’s something very comforting about someone telling you, ‘This is how it’s going to be.’”

The study was an advocacy project of sorts, designed to register mentally ill voters and encourage them to go to the polls, Lohse explains. The Bush trend was revealed later on.

The study used Modified General Assessment Functioning, or MGAF, a 100-point scale that measures the functioning of disabled patients. A second scale, developed by Rakfeldt, was also used. Knowledge of current issues, government and politics were assessed on a 12-item scale devised by the study authors.

“Bush supporters had significantly less knowledge about current issues, government and politics than those who supported Kerry,” the study says.

Lohse says the trend isn’t unique to Bush: A 1977 study by Frumkin & Ibrahim found psychiatric patients preferred Nixon over McGovern in the 1972 election.

That, dear friends, is the basis for ...

Are You Psychotic? Because Empirically That Makes You Susceptible To Being A Republican...

I'm dying if I'm lying.  God help us. I mean that.

I think the study is correct, but their conclusion wrong. It is liberals who want the government making the tough calls and taking care of them, and forcing "proper" choises on the rest of us. And from what I read on the web, the are the raving loonies.

12-item scale aka, The Democrat Bible.

Chunks Humor had this to say from DrudgeReport..."The old Reagan theory which dominated -- which is, 'Government is bad, it's out of touch, chop off its hands as soon as it moves.' -- is over."

GopDieHard has a very good point a study by 2 universities and a private group found that more than 90% of felons considered themslef to be democrappers. This claim by this bozo is just so much garbage.Conservatives are quite the opposite of what they claim and do not want interference in there life much less someone telling them what to do.

Agreed that GOP die hard makes a truthful point. And as for you Jack Hamilton, thank you for using the term conservatives. There are all too many Republicans out there and far too few Conservatives.
Few things fatiqued me more than the constant harping of "bi-partisan" politics. WTF? No wonder liberals like Castro and Sadaam so much, they enforce uni-party elections. Juice
