- Scientists have not been able to explain a 1998 study showing a bright light shone on the backs of human knees can reset the brain's sleep-wake clock.

How bright does that light on the back of knees have to be? Is that a daylight savings trick?
..sleep apnoea,...significantly increases the risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke. Damn
interesting. So when I wake my husband requesting he "roll over" to quiet the snoring, I'm actually saving his life?! I'll have to let him know the benefits. ;)

Yes, Sleep Apnea can lead to MUCH higher risk for heart attack and stroke. Basically, your body gets starved for oxygen potentially hundreds of times a night. If you suspect your husband DOES have apnea (I.E.-> Does he seem to stop breathing, then loudly "snort" or gulp air after), then I highly recommend you get him in a sleep study. He *might* be a candidate for a CPAP machine (Constant Positive Airway Presure) that will ensure he breaths steady all night. The plus for you is, he lives longer (If you care), and YOU are not interrupted by his snoring.

Sleep apnea carries another risk as well- the risk of being stabbed in the throat by a loving sleep deprived spouse.

Oh you poor thing! Are you OK?
Actually it's a tossup for me whether the snoring or leaving the toilet seat in the wrong position (I have to get up frequently during the night to use the facility) is the most deadly for hubby.

TFV, OK here. I only wish toilet seats or snoring were my 'major malfunctions' of the day.... No, no, not so lucky here. HOT FLASHes...suck.... Wish I could just go to another room to sleep, that would be tooooo easy. :))
