Jeff Wilcoxon sent me this link to to a plethora of Milton Friedman. I am thrilled to pass it on. The series "Free to Choose," is alternately called ""Liberals think like Nazis"" |
scream-of-consciousness; "If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."

Years ago I was walking in the SF financial district and I had just walked by a guy that looked like Milton Friedman. Then I said to myself that must have been Milton Friedman, THE legendary Milton Friedman.

Democrats don't like their party name, they want the "Democrat Party" to be called the "Democratic Party". OK lets meet them half way. They are now the "National Socialist Democatic" party. Very popular in 1930's Germany.

The actual name is "The Democratic Party" Like most things, they are big on symbolism over substance these days.

I was channel surfing while nursing a hangover one Sunday morning during my undergraduate days. The Free to Choose series was running on the local PBS station and I was hooked (obviously this was before the National Socialist Democrats seized control of the public air ways). I tempered my drinking and re-arranged my study schedule to ensure that I had that time free every week. Eventually I purchased several of his books and occasionally re-read Free to Choose. We are a homeschool family and Friedman is going to be a required book for all of my children. It should be required reading for every school student.

I had the same experience. I studied economics (minor) at the University of Maryland, which meant John Maynard Keynes at the time (prolly still does). When I happened upon Friedman on PBS one night, it was a world changing epiphany.
