Sad. This Airedale is showing his age. It's not a lack of vigor that let's these pigeons disrespect him so, but too many disappoitments after trying to catch damned birds who simply fly away. I know lots of people like that.

I stopped chasing "pigeons" about a year and a half ago. Couldn't take the drama anymore.
Lost my last male 3 months ago and it was sad to see him hanging back. Man I miss him and now my oldest female, I'm down to 3, is getting a bit gimpy. Used to raise German Shepherds and I always had puppies around. Now my youngest is 7. Maybe I need a pup. Love dogs.

I have several mixed breeds around me now and my life is much richer for it. Like you I have lost several along the way, and when it's their time to go I can only console myself with the memories of their companionship and that we gave them the best life we could. - 1/3/07, 7:37 AM

There are lots of animals that are nice to be around.Animals that give you good feelings.Dogs, horses, even cats and a few critters at the zoo.The dog however is unique. You can look at a picture of a dog,and get a warm feeling that comes on,bringing memories of times and days long gone.Washed over with happiness and sadness at once, you say to yourself,he really is "man's best friend"

Hehh...
Reminds me of a punch line. You know...
the horny young cock rooster playin' dead in the barnyard. As the farmer heads towards him, the cock points up to a vuture circling overhead and says, "Shhhh." - 1/3/07, 12:13 PM
