Dick Nixon's birthday

Happy Birthday Mr. President
Richard Nixon was born on this day in 1913.  He's hardly my favorite President, having misbehaved in grand fashion by 1) Indexing Social Security, 2) Creating the EPA, and OSHA, and 3) pushing the ''Philadelphia Plan,'' the first significant federal affirmative action program into being.  Still, he had more brains and integrity than any Democrat President in the past 50 years. This morning I only wanted a nice birthday picture of Dick, but as often happens while Googling, stuff just kept popping up.  I could spend all day on this, but alas my attention span is way lacking.  Here then are the top three things that I stumbled upon.

Jerry Voorhis (April 6, 1901September 11, 1984) was a Democratic politician from California. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1937 to 1947, and was defeated for reelection in 1946 by future President Richard Nixon. The reason Jerry Voorhis was defeated was because Nixon had used the powers of publicity and false accusations.

Alger Hiss (November 11, 1904November 15, 1996) was a U.S. State Department official involved in the establishment of the United Nations. He was accused of being a Soviet spy in 1948 and convicted of perjury in connection with this charge in 1950. Although new evidence has added a variety of information to the case, Hiss's guilt or innocence remains a controversial issue.

Controversial? LOL. Maybe they found this new evidence via epinions.com. Free cake to everyone!

The deciphered Venona cables proved with out doubt Hiss was a spy. The cables also proved that Roosvelt and Trumans administration was loaded with comunist agents. But that is as it has always been with crappers. It just seems the American people never learn.
