SNAPPY

SNAPPY RULED
To carry on a theme, and triggered by # posted by JMcD ....

Ten years ago I bought SNAPPY           Didn't I just post this?   It cost about $99, and connected to your TV, VCR, VID CAM, etc, via RCA jacked wires.  You clicked the button, and saved the video.  You could  change the color, hue, etc., on the fly, and it was a total no-brainer.  Like so many programs, Microsoft XP refused to recognize this product, so it wouldn't work.  In it's place I have a whole collection of capture software, internal tuners, blah-blah-blah, and it's a pain in the ass to use, and a real resource hog.  I wish they'd just leave me alone.  BTW, when I bought my HP MEDIA CENTER PC three years ago, I could make a DVD.  Now I can't.

I know, I just complained about this Snappy thing in the past year, but what the hell.

Sometimes it's best to NOT upgrade.

The trend in media lately has been the limiting of copying. Media companies have realized that the way to prevent copying is to pressure the companies making the technology to limit the ability to copy.

Boing Boing just did a piece on this: http://www.boingboing.net/2007/01/16/xeni_nyt_oped_from_c.html

Sometimes, you can get back some functionality if you downgrade.
