Totalization Scam

Obfuscation Big Time

This morning Fox & Friends had Sen. John Cornyn (R TX) on to discuss a sub rosa agreement signed with Mexico that would give a minimum of 12 million illegal Mexicans full Social Security benefits.  Yesterday I noted that nowhere was the person, or agency, responsible for this agreement being negotiated identified.  Cornyn was asked twice during the interview "how did this come about," and he danced around it.

At one point Cornyn says he has "no problem with Totalization" in respect to legal guest workers.  "Totalization"  is a new term to me. It turns out we have agreements with the nations listed below.  Of course there is little concern over Swedish illegals scamming our system, in fact our Social Security insurance is prolly a pittance compared to the largess of European socialism.

I am not reassured by Cornyn's "This will not happen (unless the new Democrat congress agrees)" statement, and I want to know the name of the person responsible..

Totalization Agreements

The United States has entered into agreements, called Totalization Agreements, with several nations  for the purpose of avoiding double taxation of income with respect to social security taxes. These agreements must be taken into account when determining whether any alien is subject to the United States Social Security/Medicare tax, or whether any U.S. citizen or resident alien is subject to the social security taxes of a foreign country. As of this time, the following nations have entered into Totalization Agreements with the United States:

Reading the half-assed explanation for "Totalization" it seems as if there are two possible ways it would work. Assuming the US is collecting FICA tax and the worker's home country is collecting a similar tax on the same wages, then either we would pay the worker the SS benefits he was owed and the home country would refund his tax or we would refund his FICA tax and they would pay his equivalent SS benefits.

Neither one of these seem to apply to illegals. Also, if I go to Mexico and take a job illegally are you saying I'm going to get FICA credit for that? Get real.

This subject, as with most concerning politics, reminds me of our flight into Houston last week. Bumpy ride in bad weather when the jet took an altitude dip and the seat belt kept me from hitting my head above, and breath sucked down to my stomach. The situation was out of my personal control. We were in the hands of God and our pilots. The pilots were good and capable. God is merciful.

Today's American politicians are neither. We can crash and burn at any time. Unlike pilots whose concern is to provide the best service promised, politicians promise without concern to provide. Once elected, they do whatever the hell they want regardless of the desires of their constituants. In the end, it's out of my personal control. And I am growing very weary of this ride. America is crashing and I can't stop it. Yes. I always vote, but what the hell, illegals gaining access to SS. Hasn't the closure of hospitals due to the hefty price of treating non-citizen, non-paying, medical crashers taught these politicians ANYTHING??? WTF?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in my experience when an ''Anonymous'' commenter counters an argument with haughtiness, arrogance, and ambiguty, it generally means someone with an agenda is lurking about. In this instance I detect the distinct odor of DU/Koss swine. Phew. Am I right? Ha! I knew it.

Juice, I must agree. I am so discouraged. I continue to vote, like you, but after the elections, most politicians forget what is good for the country.

Glad you made it through your flight safely Juice!

Another difference between pilots and politicians-- pilots have a vested interest in delivering their cargo safely, politicians are insulated by and large from their poor handling of our affairs. When it's all said and done, I think the majority of our politicians will vote to preserve their power first.

Rodger,
I think your nose is correct in this case.

"I want to know the name of the person responsible..."

indeed...

well stated Mr. S

maybe these fools in Washington know Social Security is doomed anyhow, and could care less, since their pensions are supposedly secure.

either way, rather have the Cornyn's in the Majority in the Senate, as today was painful.

seeing the MSM all joyous, simply makes one sick.

suddenly, all is 'non partisan', happy time...

such garbage...

meanwhile, they aren't going near undermining Iraq in their first 100 minutes.

perhaps this mission in Iraq, they once voted for, is worthy after all.

Mary, Thanks. I knew you were a kindred spirit. :)
TFV, You are correct, "the majority of our politicians will vote to preserve their power first". Sadly true.

Rodger, Thanks for all the great topics you present at your blog, for our information and conversations.

Rodger,
has Juice been given a post in our new regime? If not, as Samurai AG I nominate her to be in charge of troop morale ( I know you will think of a better title than that), but her posts always make me feel better after I read them --(no small feat these days.

Today it was on the news that that moron Webb my state elected was sworn in. It's been all I can do to hold back the despair.

I have handed out so many commissions in the Barn Army Brigade Volunteers that even I can't keep them straight, which is why I am preparing ID cards for everyone, so thay can flash them and get through Barn Security. It will be completed in 1 or 200 days.

In the meanwhile, it sure would help if people would tell me their titles, and how much they get paid each month. And, don't make stuff up - because I can smell a stinker.
