Ethanol

Corn
I'm still running the farm channel (RFD) from wake-up (6:30)  to the magic hours
of 6-8 PM, and don't bother me then.  I had to do it for sanity's sake, and I think others feel the same.  I know Juice had to back off.  At least we didn't have to go to group counseling like the sorry ass libbers did after Bush won Florida.  There are no politics on RFD, and the stuff I learn is stuff you don't find other places.  I haven't been on a horse for several years, and then just rented bridal trail stuff, but I have watched so many horse training shows the past 6 months that I think I could do a passable job of  horse whispering.  The people are all genuine, sort of like a room full of Jack Hamiltons, and that's the kind of folk we all were when I was growing up.  Whoa, I'm rambling.  Here's what I just learned.

Brazil gets about 1100 gallons of ethanol/acre from sugar cane.  Our farmers get 350 gals/acre of corn.   Next time the topic comes up at the tailgate party, I'll be the expert.  You too.  On that same topic, Mexicans are concerned over rising corn meal prices because of the emphasis on corn based ethanol, but holy crap!  What is Bourbon whiskey based on?  That's right.  Fasten your seat belts.

Hey Fresh, you remind me of something...I used to hear the oldtimers, when I was little, call corn "roche'nyeers" a word that sounded oddly ,French...Since I had only seen corn cooked by boiling or frying,I was up in my 20's before I figured out they were talking about 'roasting ears'
