Saved by the VCR

What serendipity!  I just read that Al Gore is a favorite to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and while rummaging through my stuff for a 12 gauge shotgun shell I ran across an old 1965 video, 36 Hours. It vaguely rang a bell, so I popped it into our last working VCR and decided to watch it before blowing my brains out. Holy crap!  Most of you prolly never saw this movie.  In brief, Germans kidnap an American major (James Garner) and try to convince him that World War II is over, so that they can get details about the Allied invasion of Europe out of him. He's drugged. and comes to in an ''American hospital,'' with no remembrance of how, or why he's there, Doctors, nurses, etc., are all Nazi actors, of course.  Newspapers dated into the future lend credence to the doctor's (Rod Taylor) claim that Garner has been in a coma.  The war is long over, and the Allies won.  Part of his therapy will be to remember things, like the Invasion details.  Do you see what I mean?  Some fuckers have been fucking with me.  Al Gore isn't nominated for anything.  He committed suicide in 1974.  Bill Clinton is  just a contrivance, never happened.  Jimmy Carter?  Hell, the name belonged to a bit player on Grand Old Opry  from the 50s.  But why?  They want me to reveal something.  I think I know what it is, but of course I can't tell you.  I'm on my way to Washington right now to find out who the president really is .. I think it's Charlton Heston.  Drinks are on me.  Hey, wtf?  What is this thing I'm typing words on?  Who the fuck are you people?  This is very scary.  But at least I won't have to kill myself.  Did Joey Heatherton do Playboy yet?
