Congratulations to Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell, who vetoed a measure Monday that would have made English the official language of Nashville because he was afraid of the ACLU. Way to go Bill.

Yea nashville has a cicken shit mayor. A real Profiles in Courage kind of guy. They may be able to overturn the veto I do not know.

Funny thing is, and I'm not being racist. Nashville has...No Mexicans. I'd have to guess that under 5 percent of the people there are 'latino' in any way. And as I said, not being racist, but unless Blacks have started speaking another language, this thing registers nil on the sense-o-meter.

Yeah but Ol' Hickory was a lyin' sumbitch who once got his azz beat by Simon Kenton in a saloon in Danville Kentucky. (That azz-beatin' part isn't exactly pertinent to the issue at hand but I always like to work it into a conversation whenever I possibly can.)

That is an old wives tale as to who got what ass whipped and we could use a pres like old Hickory now.He was a great pres and a great man. I do not really know what you mean by liar.We know he kicked and shot more asses than the law allowed.

This measure had nothing to do with Hispanics. If you look into this a bit you'll find that Nashville is a dumping ground for "refugee's" , Kurds, African's of all tribes etc. I doubt any speak English well.

The population is 65% white. 25% or so Black...It might be a dumping ground, but I also know that atleast 20% of those blacks speak perfectly fine English.

Well, throw a little ebonics in, anyway.

Illegal Aliens from Mexico have been coming to Tennessee in Great numbers if you look at the states targeted most by illegals Tennessee is one on there main destinations in the last 5 years.Hopefully changing our drivers license laws will help stop some of it.
