We'll likely be without power soon (ice storm+wind). In the past it's lasted from 6 hours to 10 days. Just so you know.

Being from CA, I had never experienced an ice storm, even while living 8yrs at Lake Tahoe. But, visiting in Portland,OR...
woke up one morning and couldn't see through the windows! Like we were inside one of those cool fake ice cubes used for summer drinks. Anyway, we couldn't even take a single step on the front porch without sliding and falling. My husband finally made it to the car, and put chains on just to get out of the neighborhood.
How often do you experience ice storms in your neck of the woods, anyway?? - 2/14/07, 10:05 AM

Maybe once-twice a year. What's really damaging are high winds after one. TRhat's what we're getting now. Trees are toppling left and right here, and it's just a matter of time before one takes our power.

We're off the boiled water after out frozen water main break...Snowed all day long yesterday and a lot today and ahead for the next 5 days. That'll be the moisture in the air from all those melted fiords and glaciers etc.I've seen very little traffic in the street in front of apt. 12 degrees with minus 5 chill factor....I'm sick of winter already.

I'd like to report that it's a very chilly 62 here in Coronado, but things are warming starting tomorrow 71, and 77 on Friday. Don't worry about me though. Somehow I'll make it through to Spring next week.
