Wet Cell Phome

My wife just washed her cell phone. Any suggestions?

  1. Her computer lost all her travel info, and confirmation number for her trip to Florida tomorrow (which I managed to retrieve).
  2. She's been sick as a dog for three days.
  3. She found my keg of beer, and stash of adult videos in the garage.*
  4. Her cell phone is presumed DOA
"I'm starting to think this is a message."

* Lie  When she's away I spend my time spackling and attending mass.
UPDATE
New Razr phone, car charger, leather case ... $100.  Put the old card into the new phone and, besides the C-Note, no pain.  She's talking on it now.  Cingular.  Thanks for the advice.

Get a new one.

My wife a week ago dropped hers in the stream behind our house. It marinaded for three days until I found it. Took it apart, called in the king's horses and men, to no avail.

Bought a new one last weekend.

Ken Hamblin once told a story on his show of spraying a disassembled cel phone with WD-40 after soaking it. WD stands for water displacement. In his case, the phone had not been wet very long (I think) and he was sucessful.

It wouldn't do any good for you to get her a new phone Roger, she still wouldn't have it with her till she got back...but if you don't do it for her she may get the idea you don't love her or some such...hell's bells man, "you" have got yourself in a no win situation, you is toast.

Remove the batteries, all of them, open the cell phone up as much as you can (remove covers, etc.) and place it in a toaster oven set no higher than 120 F for about half an hour or so.

Should cook all the water out and not harm the electronics.

I lost my Nokia at the 7' bottom of our pool for 15hrs. Took it apart and set it in the sun for about 8 hrs. Worked good as new. Dropped my Samsung in hospital toilet (clean water) and grabbed it out quickly. Took it apart, let it dry a couple of days, it worked great. I do not plan to allow this to happen to my Razor phone...don't think it would make it.

Ever notice how these things never seem to get dropped into toilets with "soiled" water? Just sayin'.
