I've been babysitting the
FIOS TV installation guy most of the day. Finally got everything
hooked up and left. Picture quality is WOW. It's what I
expected HD to look like, and that's only the local channels which were
of poorer quality on Direct TV. Unfortunately I don't
know what the other channels look like because Verizon had me down as a
"Local Only" subscriber. Finding that out took 5 phone calls and
3 hours. At least it's easy to fix, just change the service and
Bingo. Right? Wrong Fiber Breath, that part of Verizon is closed
from 7PM to 8AM. Yup, just like Joe's hardware
store. No, wait, Joe's Hardware is open until 9:00.
Here's a question though, We have a
Phillips DVR that was hooked up by Direct TV. The thing retailed
for about $1200, but we got it free. I'm told it only works on
Direct TV, is that so? It has RF input and output. I guess
without the channel guide service it'd pretty useless as a DVR.
Is it worth anything? Thanks.
