"How Modern Liberals Think"

Marvelous essay on "how liberals think"

Greg Richards
On March 5, Evan Sayet, a new name to me but apparently a well-known conservative (!) figure in Hollywood, delivered the "speech of the century" (my characterization) at the Heritage Foundation.  It is available on YouTube here.  Don't miss it.  Before this speech, ignorance; after it, knowledge. (American Thinker)

Anonymous and Rodger, Thanks!!
I just finished watching in entirety
the link that was posted below. FABULOUS! And now I've discovered someone I'd never heard of who is a great mind and speaker. Gosh, that was great!

I'll listen to this a number of times. The Q&A at the end is very worthwhile.

Never heard of this guy but he's exactly right. I wonder if he figured it out for himself or learned it from other thinkers (e.g. Ayn Rand said this stuff over 50 years ago). Either way its nice to see someone have the balls to state the truth.

Made me cry - in a good way...thanks Rodger.

He was heavily influenced by Allan Bloom

He's giving entirely too much credit to liberals by assuming they've thought it all out to the degree that he has. The true bottom line is that some people just don't get things the way others do. Some people, much of the world's population, in fact, actually like soccer. That doesn't make them wrong or evil, merely different. I find soccer almost fatally boring, but then I find professional sports in America an evil on the same insidious level as Hollywood liberalism.

No, he simply has overthought a very basic situation: that given a choice, people often make bad decisions and not a helluva lot can be done about that. Joe McCarthy thought he was a good, patriotic, dedicated American anti-Communist. It never occurred to him that he was a hypocrite, a bigot, a troublemaker, and a moron.

I'm sure that deep down inside, Fidel Castro genuinely believed that ousting a corrupt Batista government and redistributing the wealth of the elite would bring great prosperity to the Cuban people. That he could be wrong and that socialism doesn't work as well in practice as it does in theory never occurred to him.

In any given election, roughly 45% vote straight-ticket Republican and 45% vote straight-ticket Democrat. Why? Mostly because that's the way good ol' Dad, or Uncle Pete, or Aunt Mary always did. Elections at the national level are nothing more than popularity contests for multi-millionaires, and only rarely does a qualified, dedicated, genuine patriot even bother to run (Reagan comes to mind, of course), so more often than not the issue that decides where the undecided will vote is based on a sound byte, or a TV spot, or a major fuckup, or even the bumper sticker on the car of that sonofabitch that cut them off on the way to the polling place.

I'm married to a brilliant lady, great cook, wonderful mother and grandmother, marvelous housekeeper. But she likes shrimp, and crabs, and lobster, and squid, and I can't get the goddam things past my nose. She genuinely believes that America is going down the tubes because it is run by self-congratulatory, reward-driven, no-accountability, posturing, phony-smiling, backstabbing hypocrites, and to her it makes no difference if they're male, female, black, Latino, Democrat, Republican, Al-Gore-fake scientists, Hillary-Clinton-women's libbers, John-McCain RINOs, or Fred-Thompson-good-ol'-boys.

She's right about the people running things in this country, of course, but she's way off base with her affinity for crustaceans and other bottom-feeding bugs.

And there's no way I'll ever convince her to vote in ANY election, although I will continue to oppose narrow-minded, bleeding-heart, head-in-the-sand, holier-than-thou, Bush-bashing liberals every time I get the chance, because they've been given the appropriate data and stubbornly insist on leaping to the wrong conclusions on virtually every controversial issue in this nation.

Man! I am stunned! That's a hell of a mountain of truth piled up in such a small amount of time.I wish everyone COULD and WOULD have the opportunity to listen to this speech. If one can be said to take pleasure in hearing how dangerous our enemies are then I enjoyed every word from brilliant and insightful speaker. So glad he turned up here Rodger and I will positively spread this around as much as I possibly can...Again..I'm completely blown away by the clear wisdom.

I never realized Michael Douglas was such a deep thinker.

Seriously, though, this is SUPERB! An excellent analysis of the problems with the modern marxists.

Thanks, Anon & Rodger!!

I've yet to hear a more prescient examination of the modern liberal mindset. One of your best posts ever. If schools are allowed to show liberal crap like "Farenheit 911" and "An Inconvenient Truth" to their students, they should also require those same students to watch and discuss this video. Mr. Sayet's reference to "Everything I Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten" as the blueprint of liberal thinking was the real money shot. You got me stoked now, Rodge. Fire up the B-52!

I just finished watching the whole thing. I'd like to see this guy debate a libtard or three. Matter o' fact, I'm going to go looking for more on him now.

I'm surprised that politicstv.com has this on their website, since it appears to be a lefty-leaning site.

Thanks!
