James Lewis writes: I wonder if Cho took the senior seminar by Professor Knapp, on "The self-justifying criminal in literature." Because he certainly learned to be a self-justifying criminal. Or whether he sat in courses with Nikki Giovanni, using her famous self-glorifying book, "The Prosaic Soul of Nikki Giovanni (2003)". Maybe he read Professor Bernice Hausman's "Changing Sex: Transsexualism, technology, and the idea of gender" --- just the thing for a disoriented young male suffering from massive culture shock on the hypersexual American campus. And even more gender-bending from Professor Paul Heilker, who wrote "Textual Androgyny, the Rhetoric of the Essay, and the Politics of Identity in Composition (or The Struggle to Be a Girly-Man in a World of Gladiator Pumpitude)." Or the Lesbian love stories of Professor Matthew Vollmer. Yup, that's just what this student needs. These trophy "art works" are all advertised on the English Department faculty websites. http://tinyurl.com/28q3ar
Is that your line above the cartoon Rodger?
Tim
Marc - I looked at the VT website and was angered and dismayed at the tripe the English faculty calls scholarship. Wonder how kids are indoctrinated? Look at the Leftist buzzwords in the faculty research interests:
oppression, colonial, critical theory, Diaspora, racism, sexism, exploitation of workers, social action, gendered identity, queer theory, AIDS, environmental contamination, drone-thought, environmental, American Indian, African-American, homelessness, poverty, violence, gay/lesbian experience, facets of eroticism, etc. on and on ad nauseum.
Giovanni herself says "The recognition of Middle Passage as our porthole to prolonged space travel is a unique way to understand both slavery and space which I explore in Quilting the Black Eyed Pea.... My primary interest is the evolution of Black America and the impact of that evolving upon Earth.... I am in search of Darwin by land and sea to put together my theory of luck and happenstance. If luck and happenstance are factors, then responsibility has to change."
They are nuttier than a bag of pistachios and full of liberal hate.

What's that mean doc?

What's that mean doc?
Jack, I think it means she's smoking shit we can't get around here, or she's bonkers, or her idea of poetry is to string together normally unrelated words and themes, claim the result demonstrates her mastery of words and scholarship, but IMHO, the last option confirms her a phoney, an academic con artist. IOW, it doan mean nothin'.

Kewl heading Rodger...Reckon anyone remembers the Korean War.
I cater to those who do.
Hence my question Herr Schlong. As to her evolution idea, the inner city shows the evolution that has been roughly on par with the tribal areas where their distant relatives live.
