Guns and Gun Nuts

Venus Ramey is Alive & Well, Thank You

Venus Ramey

WHEN A former Miss America was confronted by a thief in her Kentucky barn last week, the plucky 82-year-old knew just how to react. Venus Ramey, whose figure adorned Second World War [sic] B52 bombers, pulled out her .38 calibre handgun, leaned on her walking frame to steady her aim and coolly shot out the tyres of the startled intruder's getaway vehicle. She then held him at gunpoint, flagged down a motorist to raise the alarm and calmly waited until the sheriff arrived.

The story was celebrated as an example of the unquenchable American frontier spirit and the inalienable constitutional right to defend hearth and home with firearms.

Coming just a few days after South Korean student Cho Seung-Hui used a handgun to slay 32 fellow students and teachers on the campus of Virginia Tech, there can be no clearer example of America's schizophrenia towards gun control. [Tragedy that has Capitol Hill running scared of gun laws]

The author goes on to say "Because of the stranglehold that the gun lobby holds over Washington's corridors of power, the torpor goes to the very top of American politics."  Schizophrenia? Stranglehold?   It sounds like the reporter Mr. Massie knows who Mr. Hyde is here. Of course he's Euro, so surrendering to bad guys with guns is becoming an ingrained characteristic. Americans are not schizo when it comes to guns. In fact they have made their position so plain that Democrats won't touch it anymore. Here's Chuckles the Clown this morning.

That was a Schumer style "Yes, we learned our lesson," by the way. Gun nuts will try to leverage the VT horror, but the Venus Ramey's ain't buying it. They go on living to fight another day.

Yesterday I complimented my arsenal with a Sig P239, Hogue grips. What a sweet weapon. Fabulous action, wonderfully smooth and as accurate as I can be.

Yep- you gotta love those WWII B52 bombers. Not only did they help us get pictures of beautiful women spread far and wide, they were one WELL-kept secret.

You can't help but wonder what the outcome would be if Venus Ramey had been sitting in the first classroom Cho Seung-Hui opened fire in. You can't predict the outcome of such a thing, but there's a good chance the outcome would have been different if she'd gotten a slug in him.

I'm looking real hard at adding to my gear either a Kimber Ultra RCP II(.45) or the Kel-Tec PLR(.223 pistol long range, kinda like a hand held AR-15). Kimber for cocealed carry or the Kel-tec for CQB.Oooo, I can hardly wait for Christmas! When we meet at the barn I'll be the guy bent double from the weight of my Arms & Ammo. Just push me out(with a parachute please) over the enemy & watch the fireworks.

Rodge,
To be perfectly authentic,
your BUF needs D-Day stripes.

Hi Jack, yea but I really liked the no snag features(melt, trench site) seemed really good for close up. You're right though, I'd hate to get in the habit of not using sights. I was raised on 1911's & combat commanders, carrying Glock 30 now (.45), it's good but still pretty big, more rounds but if you can't buy yourself time to reload with 8 then somethings wrong with your training right? I'm getting an old 1911 and a 20 gauge from my mom in june, I think I'll keep the glock & get the Kel-Tec for mid range. Got a .30-06 for distance.
