Actually this was the Normandie, a French and not Cunard ship.

OBTW. The Blue Angels made a visit to our house today at 400Kts 100 ft off the deck as in my back deck. This really rocks my boat. They tell us every year not to set our alarm systems. Hee, hee, hee. More tomorrow at 2:00pm. For a good, free vantage point park early at the WW II memorial on rte 450 and sit on the front grass facing the Severn River

I of course was referring to the Normandie falling over and using all Cunard's parking space.

The confiscated ship USS Lafayette burned and capsized after fire broke out in the dining room which was used for storage of thousands of life vests filled with highly flammable kapok. The ships sprinklers had been shut down during remodeling and unfortunately the NYC fire hoses would not hook up to the French fittings.
