Fear of God

Fear of Religion

Bogey Man, or Strawman?

Professors Hold 'Unfavorable' View of Evangelicals

(CNSNews.com) - A majority of American university faculty members view evangelical Christians unfavorably and would like to see the influence of "Christian fundamentalists" on American politics lessened,

Since Ronald Reagan won the presidency in 1980, the left's animus towards religion has hardened.  It was the "Moral Majority" thing that did it.  I've had this question ever since, even asked it a few times.  Just what is it that American university faculty members (in their surrogate role for the religious left) fear that "Evangelicals" will do?  And, who are "Evangelicals?"  Am I one?  Is the Pope one?  Off the top of my head here's a list of things Pat Robertson (he is an Evangelical, I take it) might do if he was King.
  1. Overturn Roe-Wade
  2. Ban the sale of pornography
  3. Foster the notion that homosexuality is a sin and can be "cured"'
  4. Allow Creationism to be taught alongside Darwinism
  5. Allow school prayer
  6. Have Hugo Chavez assassinated
  7. (Your Turn)
By the way, this in no way implies that I hold a position one way or another on any of these issues.  I'm just asking, if all of these things were suddenly implemented what would we have?  Besides our nation until 1960?   There is nothing on the "Evangelical" agenda that I'm aware of that would come close to making this country a theocracy, or hell on earth  Elucidate me, please.

1. Strictly interpret the constitution ( which would result in RvW being sh*tcanned ).

2. Try to tell me what I can and cannot say on my own property or in my own store, and you will speak to Mr. 12 gauge. Want to protect your sprogs? Then parent them, and don't expect the government to do it for you.

3. Get the government out of the marriage business. Marriage should be a religious ceremony and a private contract. The pastor will probably have a church approved contract for you if you don't have your own ready. As for the whole homosexuality issue ... if it ain't shoved in your face, then who cares?

4. Get the government out of the education business. Send your sprog to whatever school turns you on.

5. Get the government out of the education business. Send your sprog to whatever school turns you on.

6. Sounds like a plan ... one less socialist dictator.

Leftist's big problem with Christians (by any name) is that we acknowledge a higher power. Leftists believe THEY are the highest power and nothing could possibly be greater than them. Plus, no titty bars within 500 feet of a church. I think that bothers them too.

If the left wants religion out of government completely, then we will have to also ban Greens and Socialists from standing for office.
