John Cornyn rejects Imnigration Deal

John Cornyn Has His Head Screwed On

Cornyn Statement On Immigration Reform Announcement

Cornyn's head is right

“I simply cannot, and will not, support any legislation that repeats the mistakes of the 1986 amnesty.  So we have to make a basic determination:  Will this bill restore respect for our laws?  Or will it have the opposite effect, and encourage still more disregard for our immigration and border security laws,  placing us within a few years in the same untenable position we’re now in?”

Do you want to make a difference in countering the invasion of our country by illegals? Here's one thing you can do.

If you're buying a home, buy a resale. Don't buy a new house. Severely reduced demand for new houses = severely reduced job opportunities for illegals = they deport themselves. The construction trades are one of the major employers of illegals. Pass it on. If enough people act on it, we might just see a reduction in the number of illegals. Less traffic, less public funds spent on social services for non Americans, less pushing 1 for English......

Just a thought..

I've emailed both Texas senators again about immigration. Cornyn sounds good, but will he remain firm when the others start making deals? Hutchison blows a lot of hot air at it. Maybe she will do the right thing--we'll see.

I stayed out of the fray yesterday, but noted HNaV's comments. I frankly don't have much of a problem with this bill. Neither does Michael Barone:
"So it's remarkable that Kyl was able to get as many concessions from Kennedy as he did."

I'm more amused than taken aback at the vitriol coming from the right. It may help to step back, look around, and fight the battles that need to be fought.

To quote HNaV, "Didn't 2006 teach any of you anything?"

It seems some of y'all have lost your ability to smell bullshit, even when you're standing in it. Let's start here. They're here illegally. They're criminals. All of them. There is no deal this time.

They're here, Rodg, and they aren't gonna magically disappear. It's a reality. I'm prepared to deal with it, are you?

I'll speak slower. They're here. They're illegal. I want it dealt with ... but not by allowing them to stay. We've been through this "final solution" bullshit too many times, and John McCain had been on the wrong end of it every time, it seems to me. We've become a lawless nation, and it has to stop. EOS.
