Timeless advice. Compare Mitch to the godless pussies in Hollywood now. He'd kick Penn's ass to the moon. And smoking too! OMG!!! What the hell happened to patriotism with these people?
Was it you Rog that had that list of what the stars of the 40s and 50s did in the service? It's remarkable. Some of these men were real ass kickers. I remember Neville Brand(Capone in the Untouchables) was the 3rd(?) most decorated man in WWll. Was it Gable that insisted he go in as a regular enlisted man?
And I just read about the upcoming crop of movies dealing with the Iraq Front. Take a flipping guess the tack EVERYONE of these films is going to take? Starting with this film about Danny Pearl's wife that blames US for the beheading.
Time to hit the weights, I'm agitated, to say the least.

Gable enlisted and flew combat missions as a waist gunner, I forget which bombers. They ultimately convinced him he could do more for the war effort selling bonds.
Gentle, quiet Jimmy Stewart piloted bombing missions and stayed in the active reserve, retiring, I think, as a General.
