Gun Knife

"Ha. You call that a knife?" - Crocodile Dundee

"Oh sh*t. Sorry mate."
The ‘gun’ portion is a breech loading .45ACP with a grip safety along the haft. A cool feature is that it also comes with a sleeve allowing you to fire .380ACP if you so choose. The review author (sorry don’t remember the title or the month) mentioned that the knifepistol’s actually pretty easy to instinctively aim by sighting along the blade, although with the non-existant barrel and 1 round capacity, I wouldn’t expect to see these things at IDPA matches. (OK So I'm Not Really A Cowboy)

Knife pistols of various design have been around for a long time.  This one's unique, but at  $ 1315.00  I'll go with a Colt and a K-Bar.  Some guys at the range have inserts that allow their .45s to be used for the .22 portion of Bullseye matches, which prompts this question. Couldn't a criminal use such a discardable insert to escape forensic analysis?

they could just use a shotgun with shot to avoid ballistic ID. Just make sure you retrieve & destroy the shot shell casing(s) when you are done.

Possibly -- unless he left the cartridge casing where it could be picked up, in which case they might be able to get a firing-pin impression.

But he could just toss the barrel afterwards, yes.

I don't think a labe technicion is going to find a pin imprint on a .22, and think to look in a .45 for a match, though.
